Founding of Lindenberg-Anlagen GmbH
Lindenberg-Anlagen GmbH was founded in 1948 by Karl Lindenberg, engineer, at that time head designer of large water-cooled Diesel engines with Klockner-Humboldt-Deutz AG, Köln.
GURO coupling and Diesel aggregates
The company was then chiefly active in the manufacture of Diesel aggregates and the development of the very successful, high-rpm elastic GURO coupling, used in our aggregates until 1985.

Success and expansion of our company
1948: Founding of the company and start of production in Hoffnungsthal near Cologne
1978: Lindenberg-Anlagen GmbH experienced an upswing in economic results that lead to the construction of new office space and production facilities in Rösrath, accompanied by an expansion of the company’s production capacity.
1986: Initial construction of a Diesel and heavy oil-based 10 MW electrical power station for Essa Cement, Pakistan, with three BV8M640 Deutz engines.
1990: Orders from the Bundeswehr for the construction of 2,500 power generator and orders from NAMSA for pump aggregates for pipelines.
1992: Marine aggregates were added to the product programme.
1996-1998: Construction of six power stations in Saudi Arabia featuring a total electrical output of 100 MW to be operated with Diesel, HFO, and crude oil having a burning point of 0 °C. The drive engines to be applied were of type BV16M628 and BV16M640 manufactured by Klöckner Humbold Deutz AG. These were the first power stations of this size in continuous operation world-wide that ran on highly flammable crude oil. After-sales service attendance of the power stations was ensured by specially trained plant experts of Lindenberg-Anlagen. This was a milestone for the further development of the company.
2000: Standardization of our marine power generator products in accordance with the latest standards in production technology. The know-how and experience gained here are continuously improved and can be found anywhere in our company today – they make sure that we meet the quality requirements of our customers.
2004: First ISO 9001:2000 certification
2006: Vegetable oil CHPs were added to the product programme. This required intense and comprehensive engine-related examinations and had to be harmonized with our service structure that needed to be adapted to the requirements of our customers. Lindenberg-Anlagen founded several subsidiary companies to allow for the operation of its own vegetable oil CPHs at different sites to supply customers with heat. Lindenberg-Anlagen learned what it means to maintain continued operation for 24 hours every day and, simultaneously, to assume responsibility for the fuel supply logistics.
2008: Despite the worldwide economic crisis, we delivered, for the first time, a total of 900 marine power generators to places all over the world.
2009: Lindenberg-Anlagen signed the purchase contract on a new company site in Overath at a location formerly belonging to the company Fröling Heizkessel & Behälterbau GmbH.
2009: In co-operation with a well-known engine manufacturer, Lindenberg-Anlagen successfully concluded the development of a marine engine with type approval. For the first time in the company’s history, it was possible to completely develop such a marine engine in co-operation with a partner and to successfully introduce it onto the market.
2010: Lindenberg-Anlagen successfully concluded the development of spark arresters, exhaust silencers, and combinations of spark arresters and exhaust silencers with type approval.
2010: Lindenberg-Anlagen successfully concluded the development of machine enclosures to be manufactured internally. They were smoothly introduction onto the market and the customers‘ response to them was favourable. The enclosures are of the self-sustaining type and allow for a load of up to 70 tonnes. The system can be applied in the whole industrial as well as marine sector, e.g. on wind platforms.
2011: Lindenberg-Anlagen ultimately purchased the new company site in Overath after the location had been comprehensively reconstructed and extended.
2012: Lindenberg-Anlagen becomes the distributor for John Deere marine main drive engines in Germany.
2012: Lindenberg-Anlagen once again obtains the BV type approval for cylindrical LNG storage tanks permitting to be stacked.
2012: Lindenberg-Anlagen is the first company world-wide to deliver a coal gasification power station of this size to Asia. The total output of all gasification reactors is 9 MW. It is the result of a co-operation with an enterprise specialized in pyrolysis for many decades. In this project, Lindenberg-Anlagen is responsible for the power generation aggregates and for the complete construction of the reactor including the plant accessories.
